Relationships are everything in the film/TV business. That’s one of director Rory Karpf’s guidelines, shared at our 100 Words Film Festival Presents: Expert Filmmakers event. He talked about his working relationship with the D.O. Double G himself: Snoop Dogg.

One fateful day on set, Rory asked Snoop to remove his jangling necklaces, which were interfering with his microphone. Snoop begrudgingly complied, transferring the chains from his neck to Rory’s — even gifting him one. From there, a partnership bloomed, resulting in one of the clearest measures of success: an original Netflix series. Rory’s series Coach Snoop is available now.
